We booked a room with a queen bed and a sofa, free parking , breakfast fully paid three months in advance via Booked.net as it was advertised. But we got double bed, no sofa, no breakfast and charged $120 for parking. Not a good experience.
I am very unsatisfied with Palihotel Melrose's unacceptable mistake which jeopardizes Booked.net's credibility as well. Although we give our credit card numbers to Booked.net, if we pay by cash at the hotel, there is no amount to be withdrawn by the hotel. This is the first time that I see a hotel, very clumsily and inexperienced to miss this rule! I have checked in at Palihotel on 22th Aprii PAID THE WHOLE AMOUNT OF 346 USD AT THE CHECK IN and checked out on April 24th. When I got back my country I see that they have withdrawn two amounts: 399USD+ 346.35USD=745.35 USD This is unacceptable!
Everything was normal before we had a terrible check out. We had an early flight so we had to check out at 4 am, and I went to reception to tell administrator about this, he said ok and opened the beer) In the morning we came to reception for the check out and this administrator told us that he cant do it before 6 am, because the program works such a way, we said to call the manager and he started to wokr, after this we said we have a deposit box with our passports and our money and asked to return them he said that he have to go and check the room after this he said that we had something from mini bar and he have to take money for this, but we didnt touch anything, and he took out our deposit box and put his arm into it and tried to take our personal money it was like he wanted to stole them in our sight!!! After 15 min of scadal we got them back!! And paid for mini bar!!! Bar service kills everything!!!
staff and loacation were excellent
I loved the friendliness of the staff, the excellent location, and the overall theme of the hotel.
I have no complaints.
The feeling of history, this hotel is built since 1912. The host is very kindly.
I just Loooooooooooove the Palihotel's style!!!!!!!!!
Great look and decor. Loved the use of wood and the courtyard was cool.
No in-room air conditioning controls. No phone for front desk. No phone number in the room for the front desk and having to walk in pajamas to front desk to ask for copper room. Water in sink, for some reason had a yellow hue. I tenet was unreliable and when I used my own phone to google and find the number for the front desk, once i spoke with them, there was no pencil or paper to write down Internet password. Little things, but it could be smoother. I think being able to call the front desk for assistance and not have to hunt for your own phone or the phone number is a big drawback.
Great location. Lovely design ideas. Unique room layout and furnishings. Nice coffee shop adjoining. Very helpful staff.
Limited air-conditioning. Very hot in room.
Palihotel was a unique, trendy and hip hotel. It was small, so the front desk staff were extremely attentive and helpful. It is walking distance from many high-end stores as well as restaurants, bars and a major bus route. Each room was impeccably decorated!
All of the things that immediately affected us (sheets, towels, carpet, shower) were very clean. However, a stale odor lurked on the headboard and we found bits of trash (and a belly button ring) stuck in the couch, indicating that the staff don't thoroughly clean all the little details between guests. It would have been nice had the hotel offered free snacks or a continental breakfast for the price we were paying.
Internet did not work, bare minimum everything.
the hotel has a really good furnished style, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The location is okay.
Palihotel on Melrose Avenue in the Fairfax District of la is a refreshing surprise. The theme and decor is very unique -- American Vintage. Very cool place. The interior and small touches, like books in a bundle on the corner of a sofa...All very precious and makes your stay quite a thrill. As far as the novelty of the unique decor and interior, it is perfect and fun. You just feel the thought that went into the design. Simple yet very, very interesting. Location is wonderful. We enjoyed the Farmer's Market and The Grove which is very close to the hotel. It is such a fun place to visit. The Farmer's Market especially was so much fun. Lots of great food! Go for Pampas, super good Brazilian flame broiled meats! All very well-seasoned and fresh! The salad bar and buffet were equally as good!!!
The hotel is two years old and still on their toes, in a sense. You still do not feel they are at ease yet with how things operate. They are still ironing out kinks in the flow of service and things. The manager is attentive, but not very personable. Does not smile. In the service/hospitality industry it is very important to make guests feel welcome. So smile Mr. Manager! Warmth goes a long way as far as making the experience of guests at your hotel memorable. The front desk person was doing his best, efficient and was personable, but still a little nervous or maybe stressed? The rooms have no phones, ok...we managed. I called the front desk around 10am or so by cell phone for an extension of our checkout from 11 to noon. Front desk person said all ok. Then when it was close to 11am, because there are no phones, I hear a knock on the door and a man who said they were just reminding us of the 11am checkout. So, obviously, poor communication between front desk and the rest of the staff on new developments on guests. That was annoying. I heard several soft taps on our door before that, even if I had the do not disturb sign on the door. It would have been more annoying if I was paying the regular rate of $300 plus. I got the room on Booked.net for a reduced rate of $184. It was a special and I took it. Because no way would I stay at a place that expensive for one night. I have traveled quite a lot in my lifetime and enjoy trying out new hotels. So I am very particular and yet forgiving. The hotel needs to be on top of maintenance. Our room was very clean, but showing signs of wear in the bathroom. The bathtub floor had a few sizable peeled spots. So new coating is needed. Shower head was great! Loved it! But when I first turned on the water by the faucet first in the bathtub, the initial flow of water was yellowish in color. So, not sure why.
I limes the location, the staff was very Nice And bilingüe And it was confortable. I will recommend the hotel TO fríends and colleagues and certainly will go back.
Internet comes and goes but no problem as I was on holidays
The staff was beyond friendly. The beds were the mst omfortable beds ever. The room was super clean and well stocked. The shampoo and conditioner I cannot get over how soft it add my hair, I want to buy it in bulk!! Location was amazing and within distance to a lt of stuff.
The only thing was the parking but that's la for you. They have their own garage and plenty of spaces but I hate narrow parking garages.
